Our Story
Founded in 1997, Giant Steps began with a simple but powerful belief: that individuals with autism deserve opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive across their lifespan.
From our first classrooms to today’s multi-faceted programs, we have grown into a leading nonprofit serving individuals and families throughout the greater Chicagoland area. Along the way, we have:

- Opened the Canopy Adult Program, supporting adults with autism in developing independence, vocational skills, and community connections.
- Launched Christine’s Dream Equestrian Center at Rich Harvest Farms, where participants build confidence and emotional growth through equine-assisted learning.
- Expanded services to include day school education, therapy, after-school programming, family respite, and vocational pathways.
