COVID-19 RESPONSE
Giant Steps IL put a core set of infectious disease
prevention strategies in place as part of our
everyday operations. The addition and layering
of COVID-19-specific prevention strategies
were tied to the COVID-19 Community Levels
and community or setting-specific context,
such as the availability of resources, the health
status of students, and the age of our students
and young adults. Enhanced prevention
strategies were also implemented in response
to an outbreak in the K-12 adult settings.
Giant Steps Day School and the Canopy Adult
Program followed the CDC guidance, the Illinois
Department of Public Health (IDPH), and any
federal, state, local, or rules and regulations
with which schools must comply to ensure a
safe and healthy environment for students and
staff to work and learn.
