OUR NEW VOCATIONAL CENTER
A Vocational Training Program (VTP) is designed to equip students with practical vocational skills that they can use to
prepare for adulthood and succeed in the workforce. By learning vocational skills, students can gain valuable experience and
confidence that will help them achieve their goals and pursue fulfilling careers.
Giant Steps recognizes the importance of having a Vocational Training Center to prepare and expand our students vocational
skills. However, before the summer of 2020, Giant Steps’ Vocational Training Program did not have a permanent classroom
to learn and practice vocational training tasks. It was decided that Giant Steps would raise funds
required at our 2020 Gala to build a VTP.
Our 2020 Gala was scheduled for April 2020 but had to be canceled because of the worldwide breakout of the COVID-19
pandemic. To follow COVID-19 safety protocals our Gala was canceled, Giant Steps pivoted to a virtual online fundraiser for
building a new Vocational Training Center in our dock area.
As a result of our first virtual fundraiser, Giant Steps was able to raise
$70,000 for our new Vocational Training Center!
