students to recognize the connections between ‘cause and effect’ learning

as it relates to real-world situations. This approach supports students
in reaching a higher level of learning while enjoying their personal
                                   educational journey and building self-confidence.

Second: “Christine’s Dream,” our therapeutic equine program
was brought to fruition! It, too, is going strong. All of our Canopy
Participants are riding and/or involved in equine vocational
programming at the Rich Harvest Farms stables each week. The

joy and confidence gained through the equine program is simply
indescribable. Parents who thought their son or daughter would never be
actively engaged in riding a horse are amazed and proud! The change in their confidence
levels proves the worth of the program.

These mark only a tiny sampling of all of the giant steps that were made at Giant Steps
this past year. Now, as we look to the future: Our Day School Vocational Program and

our Canopy Adult Day Program will be featured heavily in the 2017-2018 program year’s
fundraising efforts. Our goal is to support individuals with autism to be trained and work-
ready, so that they may lead productive and fulfilling lives.
