INTRODUCING
INTRODUCING One of the many signs of a healthy organization is the ability to clearly articulate WHAT we do, HOW we
do it, and WHERE we see ourselves going/growing. It is also important for an organization to be able to
identify what culture they want to create along with the values that should be instilled in every employee.
Giant Steps is probably the healthiest that it has ever been as an organization and this is due in part to
having a leadership team that is truly united on all fronts paired with staff that are passionate, dedicated,
and have a strong understanding of what is at stake for our students every day. As a Day School, we
have been able to achieve so much in the last 2 years as evidenced by our ability to create new Day
School Mission/Vision statements supported by Core Organizational Values that give language to the
unifying purpose for why we are all here at Giant Steps and solidify our guiding coalition!

               GIANT STEPS DAY SCHOOL MISSION

Equipping and empowering students to be academically successful
and independently participate in their community to the fullest extent
possible both now and in adulthood.

                       GIANT STEPS DAY SCHOOL VISION

To serve as a leader in the field of autism education through dynamic
student-centered collaboration with key stakeholders focused on
building essential skills and reducing maladaptive behaviors.

                        GIANT STEPS VALUES

                         GROWTH-MINDSET
This is our commitment to being lifelong learners who are always
willing to use innovation to support the best outcomes for our students and participants

                         STUDENT & PARTICIPANT CENTEREDNESS
This is our constant reminder that our students are the “why”

                        COLLABORATION

This is how we make an organization work with over 200 adults and to be well-respected within the
                      Autism community

                     ACCOUNTABILITY
This relates to the way we build trust with each other in addition to building trust with our families and
district partners in providing their child’s education

                RESILIENCE

This is the ability to bounce back in the face of adversity. Resilience is incredibly important to ensure that we
show up every day with the strength to support our students through any challenge

         EMPOWERMENT

This is how we are building the collective strength of our school community through encouraging independence
     SELF-AWARENESS

This is a highly valued trait of staff members who demonstrate professional humility about their areas for growth as
well as using their strengths to contribute to our team
                                                                                                                    8
