GIANT STEPS HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE TO CELEBRATE THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF 2017 AND THE FUTURE FOR 2018

November 15, 2017 – Giant Steps Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit school for students with autism located in Lisle, IL and programming for adults living with autism located in Sugar Grove, IL., is opening the Lisle campus doors to the public, Tuesday, December 7th from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The Holiday Open House event will provide a glimpse into current programming and to Giant Steps' plans for 2018. The Lisle campus is located at 2500 Cabot Drive.

Giant Steps is a therapeutic day school for students with autism, serving over 165 students ages 5-21 on the autism spectrum from 60 different school districts throughout the Chicago area. Located in Lisle, the day school is going on 21 years of providing exceptional services to individuals on the autism spectrum.

"We're tremendously excited about all of the great initiatives we have coming up in 2018," said Giant Steps' Executive Director, Dr. Sylvia Smith. "We're looking into adding services and new partnerships, such as working with The Second City Training Center to bring 'Improv for Autism' to the suburbs."

The organization also provides a variety of community resources and supports including; after school rec center program for individuals with autism, community outreach, family training series, school consultation, and first responder training.

The holiday open house will give the public the opportunity to see how all the unique programming positively impact Giant Steps students, Canopy participants and their families. The event will also display Art and Holiday Cards that are designed by Giant Steps' students and Canopy Adult Services participants. Both will be available for purchase. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages will also be served.

"2017 has been an incredible year for us; both with new initiatives and the support we've gotten from the community," said Smith. "We plan to build on this past year's achievements with even bigger goals. We're excited to share it with the community, because without their support, none of it wouldn't be possible."
