2017 PASTA FUNDRAISER
February 24, 2017 – Giant Steps is excited to announce the launch of a partnership with Fun Pasta Fundraising, which will help fund a variety of high school student programming this year. A large portion of the proceeds will go toward providing a real high school prom experience for our students. Fundraising dollars will help to fund tuxedos for our male students and dresses for the female students, lunches for the class, decorations and music, music, music! The prom will take place May 25th at the Hyatt Regency Lisle Hotel.
Giant Steps' Curriculum and Technology Resource Teacher Marianne Kelley, who also heads the prom committee, said that each year they face a funding gap for the prom.
"Each year, we put on a prom for our students and funding the event to ensure the kids are given the same great experience that they would get anywhere else is always a challenge," said Curriculum and Technology Resource Teacher Marianne Kelley said. "Prom is a great American rite of passage and it is really important that we provide Giant Steps' students with the same experience that they would have at any other school."
The fundraising initiative, which has been conceptualized and put into motion by Giant Steps' AT/IT/Social Media Manager, Julie Zajac, is a great way to defray the additional expenses that putting on a proper prom entails.
"Fun Pasta is exactly what the name implies. It is pasta that comes in fun shapes with themes such as holidays, collegiate sports team logos, birthdays, princesses, pirates and more. There are even gluten-free and kosher options, so no matter what the diet there's a product for everyone," Zajac said. "Every sale helps support our group and gets us closer to our goal. The products are healthy, fun and affordable – they also make great gifts, too."
The goal for this fundraising effort is ten thousand dollars. If the group sells over $4,000 worth of product via brochures, Giant Steps will earn 50 percent of the profit. Anything under $4,000 worth of sales, Giant Steps will earn 40 percent of the profit. Also, if online shopping is preferred, those sales all earn the school 40 percent profit.
Giant Steps is asking students, staff and parents to share the Fun Pasta Brochure with neighbors, friends, co-workers or anyone who may be interested in good food for a good cause. Orders can also be placed on Giant Steps Fun Pasta page at www.funpastafundraising.com/shop/giant-steps.
"I'm hopeful that we can really make an impact with this fundraising drive," Zajac said.
